Rapture Ready Local Mom

A local woman tried to kill her two daughters and herself because she thought that the “Tribulation” was starting. Perhaps someone should ask these people if this is the message they really mean to tell people.

We visited family in Louisiana at the end of last year and ran across two signs along Interstate 10. One sign was located in Orange, Texas and the other near Laccasine, Louisiana. The WeCanKnow people have a donation link on their web page. Why? If the world is ending, why do they need donations? I hope the the people who follow them (like this mom) don’t try to end their lives and those of their families before this date.

  1. The P-dale case provides another tragic instance of applied fundamentalism– and nearly all judeo-christian churches have some “Rapture” concept (as does the Koran), IMHE.

Thomas Jefferson had his doubts about the Book of Revelation:

“It is between fifty and sixty years since I read it [the Book of Revelation], and I then considered it merely the ravings of a maniac, no more worthy nor capable of explanation than the incoherencies of our own nightly dreams … I cannot so far respect them as to consider them as an allegorical narrative of events, past or subsequent. There is not enough coherence in them to countenance any suite of rational ideas…. What has no meaning admits no explanation.””

Jefferson was not without flaws as a person but he did understand the dangers of religious hysteria (of all sorts).
