Worshiping at the Golden Calf?

Where’s Moses when you need him? And his 10 commandments? This little adoration of the Golden Calf is led by a woman named Cindy Jacobs. Cindy Jacobs, according to CBN, is a co-founder of something called General’s International (links to the Joels Army movement?).

This event happened on October 29 last month. I saw this posted on Pharyngula, but the name sounded familiar. I went over on Talk2Action and there were several stories about her, her friends, and their antics.

Cindy Jacobs is a leader in the New Apostolic Reformation (NAR) movement within the larger Charismatic Christian community. NAR churches are extremely cult-like and controlling of their members.

These churches preach a warped version of the Prosperity Gospel. Unlike the general Charismatic or Pentecostal churches, NAR churches preach that Christians need to grab power in this world and control everything in order to bring about the return of Christ. According to Bruce Wilson:

As the top leader of the New Apostolic Reformation, which extensive evidence suggests is Sarah Palin’s chosen religious and political movement, C. Peter Wagner proclaimed, on June 21, 2006, that “God has declared through His prophets that the wealth of the wicked will be released to the Kingdom of God,” and Wagner declared, threateningly, “the enemies’ camp will be plundered.”

How very Old Testament. Are they going to spare the female virgin non-believers in order to make sex slaves of them? I think death would be preferable than being a sex slave to a toupee clad televangelist. Ewwwwww!

Cindy Jacobs wants to pray for wordly goods and power at the Golden Bull on Wall Street. Has she even read her Bible? According to CBN, Cindy thinks that she can control God and change the stock market in her favor.

For these and other reasons Cindy is calling for a Day of Prayer for the World’s Economies on Wednesday, October 29, 2008. They are calling for prayer for the stock markets, banks, and financial institutions of the world on the date the stock market crashed in 1929. They are meeting at the New York Stock Exchange, the Federal Reserve Bank, and its 12 principal branches around the US that day.

“We are going to intercede at the site of the statue of the bull on Wall Street to ask God to begin a shift from the bull and bear markets to what we feel will be the ‘Lion’s Market,’ or God’s control over the economic systems,” she said. “While we do not have the full revelation of all this will entail, we do know that without intercession, economies will crumble.”

Looks like Christian spell casting to me. And these are the same people that are worried about witches casting spells. Looks like a case of projection to me. And what happens when her or her follower’s prayers aren’t answered? Will they grow tired of waiting? Will they “release” us non-believers to God (kill us) and take our property?

  1. You must be a newbie totally unfamiliar with Numbers 31. God orders Moses and his followers to kill all of the Midianites except for the young virgin girls,as well as keep their property and land as spoils of war. This is what I was referring to in my post. Oh,and I’m very familiar with Cindy Jacobs and her followers.

  2. You better seek God's face while you have life. The only way to eternal life is tru JESUS CHRIST!
John 14:6 Jesus told him, “I am the Way,the Truth, and the Life.No one can come to the Father except trough Me.If you had really known me, you would know who my Father is.(Quoted from the Holy Bible).
Seek ye the truth and the truth will set you free. It is clear that you lack wisdom upon the things you discuss.
When you had the Spirit of God, you will be able to identify the things that is from Him, and the things that belongs to Satan.
I pray for you that God will touch your heart and may you know Him personally.May your heart believe that Jesus Christ is the son of God, who was crucified on the cross for the redemption of our sins. And I pray thay you will recieve Jesus Christ as your personal Savior, so that you will undersatnd the ministry God has for you and me, to preach the gospel to the lost.
If personally you don't like the things Cindy Jacobs is doing, the best thing you can do is to pray to God to reveal it to you, than critisizing those whom you are not responsible for.
Judge not so that you will not be judge…. God bless you !

  3. When I was 13, I recieve Jesus Christ as my personal Savior. I had my walk with God up to the present, and God did reveal to me many things. Ex, why do we exist? All the answers are actually because of Him, here we are, He made us to give glory to his name. To glorify God is our destiny, to worship Him is our job.
There is only 2 Kingdoms: the KIngdom of God and the kingdom of satan.
The question is, where do you belong?

  4. When we pray,God knows our hearts. A christian's prayer is a war in the heavenlies.War against principalities and powers of darkness.
Prayer is power!A Christian who claims to have God in His life, and pray not is a powerless christian. I certainly agree what Cindy Jacobs is leading the christians for. It is true and it is a Godly wisdom to do so in order to have victory in life, for a nation, for a country, and for the world! If believers and doers of God does not exist, the world would have been so scary than today.
Glory to God for the called ones whom he had given a heart to pray for everything…
Is it not wondreful that there are people who cares for the world for the Kingdom of God?
Is it not wondreful that God is merciful and His love endures forever?

Return to me and I will return to you ,says the Lord !
If only the world will humble before the presence of God,restoration will take place.
I believe that tru prayers if Cindy Jacob's ministry, and to all other christian ministries out there, prayers of every believer, can make a difference in this world!

No one can pathom the wisdom of God, so therefore wether a prayer is not answered, it is not a reason to weaver, nor to quit serving Him…
God knows what is best for His people, and certainly He wants to give us the best in everything. In Matthew 11.28 says, But seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you!
Praying on the other hand is seeking the Kingdom of God…

  6. Hi Nely, how's that cherry picking the Bible working for you?

All you have to do to change my mind is to show me some empirical evidence of your god. However, don't bother with anecdotes, that's not evidence.
